Willem
Besselink
In his work Wlllem Besselink tries to avoid any decisions directed by his impulses or emotional preferences. Instead, for each work he tries to define a set of procedural rules to derive form from. Natural laws and man-made rules, the regularities of the world and the exceptions to them: that’s what fascinates him.
Using these rules he may observe all that: his own impulses, those of other people, or other given incidentals. This process actually shapes the final work. It may take any shape: different media, both two- and three-dimensional, both analogue and digital. Any work is no longer a representation of the process, but a presence by its own right.
